The Advanced Make-up course will prepare you for a career in fashion, beauty and advertising make-up. The course covers the much wider range of skills essential to becoming a professional make up artist and upon completion you will feel confident working with makeup, having gained the knowledge and know-how to go it alone in this creative and exciting industry.

You will study advanced creative and high fashion make-up application techniques. Upon completion students will be able to work as part of a backstage make-up team for catwalk shows, carryout editorial make-up assignments, work with airbrush makeup and work in TV/film. 

The course has been designed for students with previous experience either practical experience or basic make-up training. To get the most out of this course you should have experience of basic make-up application.

The Advanced Make-up course costs £1100 and includes:

• 4 days expert training in small groups
• A full day photographic shoot with a professional photographer and models

• Use of all materials and make-up at MINK

The syllabus will cover:

LESSON ONE:
Perfecting the makeup

• Smokey eyes
• Metallic pigments
• Highlighting and contouring
• Perfecting a sheer makeup look (makeup for HD TV)

LESSON TWO
Period make-up looks

• Exploring historical make-up looks of 1920s, 1950s and1960s
• Blocking out and reshaping eyebrows
• Reshaping lips

LESSON THREE:
Creative make-up

• Editorial makeup
• Catwalk make-up designs
• Creating texture with colour
• Creating texture using objects e.g. feathers, gemstones

LESSON FOUR:
Airbrush make-up

• Equipment overview
• Practical application
• High-lighting, low-lighting
• Concealing and contouring
• HD makeup

LESSON FIVE:
Portfolio Day

• Create two looks for final photo shoot
• Work with professional photographer and model
• Final pictures for make-up portfolio
